I believe there is no "conversion" involved.  Windows 95 just writes
extra info into secret files on the disk, or something.

If I'm not mistaken, you it should cause no problems.  The only
limitation is that you'll only be able to access files by their short
filename, and new file will not get long filenames (unless you go into
Win95 and rename them later).

Windows 95 has to be able to handle this, in the case where you boot
an old DOS floppy and do the same kind of thing.
