Subject: Soundblaster recording

I'm trying to set up two Soundblaster cards in a NetBSD machine; one to
record, one to playback. However, I'm having trouble getting even one
card to record. I've been able to cat audio files and write audio files
to /dev/audio. But, if I open /dev/audio as read only, I get nothing.
Once I do this, I can no longer play files either.

I know something changed with using ioctl in May, but I think the
version I have (-current 1.0A) is earlier than that. I didn't install
it on the machine, so I can't be sure of the data it was downloaded.

Does anyone have some sample code that is know to work for recording?
Or, any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help.
