I've got a GUS driver mostly working.  Audio output has far too many
clicks and sometimes is transposed by an octave if you use the wrong
block size, but 8-bit recording (stereo & mono) works great.

I've been developing it on a Gravis Ultrasound MAX, which has a
different mixer than the Gravis Ultrasound, so I'd be glad to have folks
with a regular GUS to try it out.

I also have been playing with an XForms mixer application.
