Since today seems to be "PS/2 Mouse Day", I figured I'd ask this..
I just set up my laptop to run X (this may be a mistake as it's a
386/25 with only 4MB of memory, and it seems to spend most of its time
paging...)
It has a detachable PS/2 mouse (well, trackball).
It's running a -current kernel (as of last week or so), with pms0 and
vt0 configured. The pms.c driver has the following RCS tag:
/* $NetBSD: pms.c,v 1.19 1995/01/07 22:48:29 mycroft Exp $ */
If the mouse is plugged in when the pms0 device is configured, the
kernel doesn't see any keyboard input (caps lock and num lock don't
work either..)
If I boot up with the mouse unplugged, the pms0 device still
configures, and the keyboard works. If I then plug the mouse in, the
keyboard keeps working. If I then start X, the mouse works and the
keyboard works as long as the X server has control. If I either (a)
switch out of the virtual console running X, or (b) stop the X server,
I again lose all keyboard input.
Has anyone seen anything like this? If so, does anyone have a clue as
to what's going on? Could this be related to the `XXXX This is a
hack.' comment in the pms driver?
Any hints on things to try?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
- Bill
