NetBSD 11.0 + -current - crashing (FX4 summitfb related ?)

Hello all,


My machine is a c3700 with an FX4 video card.  I know that this card is fairly new as far as being supported for graphics / X.  I had it running pre-11.0 release with whatever was -current in early 2026.  I *think* it was stable running X then ?

However now on 11.0 proper (as well a a -current from like a week or so ago…) - I get crashes when running X and having load on the machine (building packages…).

Unfortunately all of my data so far is kind of anecdotal.  Here is some of it that I believe is relevant:

- I’m running HPUX now.  I ran some of the *stm tools to stress the CPU and memory at least (1 hour each).  They all ran without incident.  I am running HPUX now and will let it run for at least a day or two.

- In the past - when I say the machine ran NetBSD stable - I was NOT running X.  I was ssh’ed building pkgsrc packages and it ran for days with no issues.

- Not only am I running X when this happens now - but after getting HPUX working - I managed to change the video default mode to 1600x1200x24.  This works in NetBSD as well which is great - but I suppose a possibility that 1600x1200 is choking when 1280x1024 didn’t ?  Let me know if there is any value in trying to run back on that lower mode…

- I checked once - I’d have to check again after HPUX runs for a day or two - I don’t think there was anything logged when the crash happened.  Just instant black screen and error on the LCD.

- The crash printed "FLT CBFO: 785/03700” on the LCD.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to debug this and get some real data not just anecdotes.
