Not sure if the disks being reenumerated was the issue
or Just that I only work on this during the wee hours,
but your suggestions apparently sparked a lucid
thought or two in me.  Anyway, not knowing who the
disks are named was really my biggest stumbling block
on the way, and I gleened that from your previous
emails (the discussion about wd0a and so on couple
that with the explaination on how to mount the cf
cards and I really got most of the information that I
needed.  

Much thanks for the prompt assistance.  Let you know
about how the battery lasts with the 2.2gig cf running.
