Actually, there have been a few of these produced for research purposes
already.  Generally, they each try some take on `magnifying' parts of
the screen, so that some area is `clear' and the rest is shrunk or
abstracted in some way.  Pretty neat, actually, but they could be a lot
better with today's faster processor and multi-bit-depth displays.
