I have a friend who no longer uses his z50 since he dropped it and the
screen cracked (incidentally, IBM will repair a z50 screen, for
something like $700.  A bit steep for a $300 machine.)  He'd probably be
willing to sell it cheap for a worthy project such as this (maybe even
donate it, if you were willing to pay shipping).  It still works on the
external video adapter, I believe, although it'd need to be reinstalled;
it's running a pretty old NetBSD install...

Would this be interesting?  Should I ask him if he's interested?
