	haven't tried it... don't have gpm installed on this machine; nor X
yet.
	the promising thing is that the cursor doesn't appear on the screen,
like it did with the old kernel.

I just tried leaving it suspended for some hours... the battery ran down
anyway. :( :( :(
	the screen blanks, it doesn't respond to the network... what's still
running, that sucks up the power?
	does it need apmd or the like? why isn't apmd part of the hpcmips
distribution? (tho there's a man page for it at netbsd.org)
