Hello out there,
while many HPC users where waiting for 1G Microdrives
Toshiba designed a little Masterpiece.
Testing it with my MobilePro 770 was showing results similar to old 340MB=
Microdrives:
booting the kernel after loading it into the machines RAM
results in error messages already described in problem report 11049
(without the ghost)
But inserting the Disk as a second drive after the message
'root on wd0a dumps on wd0b'
appears, satisfies me with a storage capacity i used to dream of.
Has anyone who uses a MobilePro 780 used the Toshiba MK2001MPL yet ?
I guess MP780 does not show this strange malfunction.
If i was booting the kernel out of RAM without any CF-Card inserted
i would not be able enter anything else than halt after being asked what
root device should be used:
root device: wd0a
use one of: halt
Would it be a good idea to
1. accept what the user is typing in at this point
2. turn on the interrupts
3. tell the user that he now has to insert that storage device
(if it can't be found)
??
Any suggestions or help welcome.
Bye
