That tends to double/triple the size of the snapshot, so it is often omitted.

IMHO all snapshots should be built from checkouts with date tags so anyone
can reproduce them.

The more snapshots that use the same date tag, the more reasonable it is
to upload a source tarball for every one of them, since they can share.

I am working on the latter (after a long dry spell) so stay tuned.
