I decided to finally start upgrading my 1.4U WorkPad z50.

I'm about to go on a trip, so I decided to do the safe thing and just
upgrade the kernel and X11. The text console is much faster (yay!) and
Xhpc comes up fine (although I have to be root).

However, the cursor does not move when I use the pointer stick thingy that
works fine in WinCE. Fortunately the default in startx has the login xterm
under the cursor, so I can exit X11 by typing at the console (whew).

I also tried building xsrc-current from a day or so ago, but that didn't
behave any differently (except that it tried to install 8 megs more stuff,
which overflowed my SanDisk 192 CF until I removed some catman pages).

Now I am back down to kernel+X11 from 20000627-1.5_ALPHA and base userland
from 20000315-1.4U. And now, the dmesg:
