On /usr/src/distrib/notes,NetBSD has install documents structure.

arm[10]% ls
CVS amiga hp300 macppc pmax x68k
Makefile     arm32        hpcmips      mvme68k      sparc
Makefile.inc atari        i386         next68k      sun3
alpha        common       mac68k       pc532        vax

common: common documents
arm[11]% ls common
CVS          legal.common main         sysinst      xfer
donations    macros       postinstall  upgrade

On hpcmips
arm[12]% ls hpcmips
CVS       contents  install   prep      whatis
Makefile  hardware  legal     upgrade   xfer

========================
arm[26]% more install
.\"     $NetBSD: install,v 1.3 2000/02/28 05:57:43 jun Exp $
.
boot with `pbdboot.exe' and `netbsd' in `installation' directory.
`sysinst' will automatically starts.

NetBSD/hpcmips kernel with system installer costs almost 6MB memory
area.
Please allocate Windows CE memory to load sysinst-netbsd kernel.
If you failed pbsdboot.exe with "cannot allocate heap" error,
allocate more memory and less disk from Windows CE
[Setting]->[ControlPanel]->[System]->[Memory].

.so ../common/sysinst
========================
In last line,Include common documents from common directory.

On /usr/src/distrib/notes/hpcmips,type "make" builds documents.
INSTALL.{html,more,ps,txt} builds.
groff program needs for building.
