What brand of hard drive are you using?

The HP425 boot ROM had a bug whereby it insisted on a certain SCSI timeout at
a certain point in the boot process. The upshot was that these things booted
fine off of the supplied Rodime hard drives, but would not boot off anything
faster, such as a Quantum.

Long ago I submitted a patch to the SCSI driver to fix this problem for NetBSD
post-boot. i.e. you still had to boot from the Rodime, but once the NetBSD
driver came up, you could then access an attached Quantum.
