Is it a card-edge connector (the pins are actually on the PCBoard) with
100 connections, roughly 14 cm (5.5") x 17 cm (6.75") ? This would be a
DIO-I type card.

Fairly sure -- I have the HP 9000 Series 300 Configuration Reference
Manual (98561-90020), Copyright 1985. It's got no reference of 800 series
(which was released a few years after). It does list a few hp200/300
cards that can be used to communicate with 500 series machines.

Between 300 and 800 was the 400 series (with 68040 processors, after HP
bought out Apollo).

Back on topic of hp300 netbsd stuff, though, does anyone know what
mb_map full
means? I get these every once in a while on my 425s running 1.3.2. Is it
bad?
