Sysconf is only the tip of the iceberg.

Mediainit does lots of device specific ioctls; that will be the real problem.
Actually, for SCSI it might not be that bad, you will probably just have to
be able to do format and verify media operations.  It is the HP-IB version
that does lots and lots of obscure ioctls.
