Hi !

very sad news:
I have a 345 which worked very well and wanted to upgrade to a 380.
finally I got a 68040 ( 40MHz version ), a 380 BootROM, a 66MHZ quarz oscillator and even some tools to pull a PLCC ROM out of its socket. I replaced the daughterboard with the 68040, plugged the oscillator into the socket next to the CPU socket, changed the BootROM, checked everything twice, switched the machine on and ... nothing happened. all LEDs were lit and the screen remains black. ok, switch off, check everything, found nothing, pressed the ROM and the processor tighter into their sockets, switched on again - still nothing.
OK, something went wrong, so I tried the original processor board with the old bootrom without the new oscillator - still dead. what the hell could be happened to my machine ? not even the old configuration works anymore !
I tried to set the jumper at the RAM banks - nothing, still all LEDs lit...
what tries the machine to say ?
something like <I'm dead, forget it> ?
so please tell me something I didn't think about since i quite liked the old beast...

bye
Michael
