Yes, they're wonderful machines...and not too hard to find in the UK
either (they were very popular with universities). In case you haven't 
guessed, the PERQ is the machine I want to talk to via the GPIB. 

Just to avoid wandering too far off-topic:
Looking through the archives, I see that HPIB interfaces can have up
to 8 'slaves'. Can somebody explain how this relates to the HPIB/GPIB 
31 devices on an interface limit? Is the 'slave' concept only significant
to the existing hpib driver?
And shouldn't I have an hpib(4) man page?
