Actually after thinking alittle more, i brought myself to the conclusion 
that because a: i have no disk with a system, and b: i didn't have it 
connected to the lan, the menu didn't come up. I was thinking that it was 
a menu that came up no matter what. But from thinking more, and getting 
your reply. If the machine had been connected to the ethernet, the system 
would have popped up. 

*heads off to pick up a transceiver*
