Not that _I_ know of .. (I.e. it's wokring great for me.)  Double-check 
your /etc/exports entry.  This is what mine looks like (all the other 
hosts trimmed for brevity):

/u3             -maproot=root -alldirs granite.sj.xenotropic.com

basalt (thorpej) ~/fixaout 925% df /u3
Filesystem  1024-blocks     Used    Avail Capacity  Mounted on
/dev/sd3c        669710   483378   119361    80%    /u3

basalt (thorpej) ~/fixaout 926% cat /etc/bootparams
granite.SJ.Xenotropic.COM       root=basalt:/u3/granite/root    \
                                swap=basalt:/u3/granite/swap

Note the `-alldirs' option ... that allows a client to mount any 
directory within the exported filesystem ...
