Well, by virtue that you got to the `swap' keyword, I'd say that 
bootparam worked fine ... considering the panic, I'd say that the kernel 
either got a garbage packet from the NFS server, or there's no permission 
for the client to mount swap.  Check your exports file ... make sure that 
the client has permission to mount _all_ directories on the filesystem.  
Under NetBSD, this is achieved by an exports like like:

	/export		-maproot=root -alldirs client1 client2

(assuming, of course, that /export is the mount point of its filesystem.)

It could just be bad error reporting on the part of the kernel... *shrug*

Could you e-mail me the output of `df' and your /etc/exports file?

Running tcpdump on that wire youldn't hurt, either ... you'll be able to 
see the NFS transactions take place ...
