One means of getting around the fact that the BBA is so expensive is using a serial connection. For speed reasons, this would depend on having a usable filesystem set up on CD, with /etc and /home being mounted over the SLIP connection. On a side note, what is the procedure for making a bootable Dreamcast CD from a compiled distribution of the port? The HOWTOs only have info about using the pre-compiled disk images provided.
