I just got a change to download and untar the files which were posted by saitoh and they cleared
up a lot of the segfaults I was getting... now sh works and I can rm a file :-)

It looks like the problem I was having must have been compiler related but also there is the
on-going problem of poor vm code which is continuing to cause problems.
