Okay. I've tried this:

Connect a pc (pc1) with a null-modem cable to the raq
Connect the raq with a cross-over cable with another pc (pc2)
Booted the pc2 with the restore cd 3.0
Booted the raq, holding the buttons on the front.

I now see the internal test (We serve it.....)
The last message is: Decompressing done
And then nothing happened. On pc2 (booted with the restore CD), I did:
  # tcpdump -i lo0
  tcpdump: listening on lo0

But also nothing happened. When I used CTRL-C:
  0 packets received

After some times the Raq system booted thes system from it's own harddisk with the following message: Jump_to_Real_Kernel: disk error, trying BFD again.

  What do I wrong?

  Thanks for the reply.

Strange that you didn't see anything on the serial console. You should have seen some copyright information, and some hardware messages. Double check your serial port speeds.

If you run tcpdump on the other end of the network connection, do you see any traffic?

I used the front panel buttons to network boot. But all I see is netbooting and that's it. Nothing on the console. I left the system about 10-15 minutes, but nothing happened. So far as I can see, there is no network traffic. I can try it with a pc. Other suggestions?

  Thanks.

Did you use the firmware to tell it to network boot, or did you use the front panel buttons?

I have a cobalt raq2 server and I want to install NetBSD on it. I downloaded the restore CD, used a cross over cable, boot a laptop with the CD, put a terminal on the raq2. But the raq2 hangs on netbooting. Nothing happens. What do I have to do to get NetBSD on it?

  Thanks.
