Well I have the same problem (crash) but with files of 1 gb or more.
After I read this article =
http://www.selonen.org/arto/netbsd/vm_tune.html I try some custom values =
for sysctl but the only real thing I accomplished was to make the Qube =
free more memory and faster than the original values, nothing happened =
with swap (If you want you can check my mrtg graphs at =
http://cleiva.no-ip.org/mrtg)
The only difference is that I'am still running 2.0 v1 (until I can get a =
new HD) but we have the same amount of memory.
Hopefully somebody is going to find the fix for this problem.

I tried different 3.0 kernels from the source server and nothing solve =
my memory issue.

I can reproduce the crash, It append each time the network interface =
is stressed with an heavy traffic (more or less).
It could be linked to your problem Claudio.
Just try to do an scp upload from a file of about 100MB between your =
workstation and the cube... The blue box goes to db>.=20
I can provide the coredump this is the only thing that I can do.
Expert are welcome.
Who can help us solve this issue ? any idea ?
