Hi all,

Almost everybody recommended 1.6.2 or 3.0 when I asked for a stable
NetBSD for my compiler course, so I thought I give 3.0 a try before
defaulting to what I know already. The install was for the most part
straightforward, kudos to the people behind the restore CD. Here are
some notes:

   - I get the "unknown host [0.0.0.0]" message that many people seem to
have reported. So
far I could not get rid of that, but I assume it will go away once
I assign a fixed IP
     address.

   - When booting, I get several (from two to six I guess) failed boot
attempts, the Qube
says something about "wrong length" or so; I figure that's a disk
problem, I used a
very old 2 GB drive for this test. Unless someone else has similar
issues?

   - For some reason I have /.profile and /.cshrc files which are
identical to those in
     /root/.profile and /root/.cshrc? I don't think these should be in /
at all...

There are probably more things to report, but since I have to repeat
the install once my new hard disk gets here, I'll most certainly get a
second chance. :-)

Cheers,
Peter
