Thanks for the reply.
Downloads of stuff for pkgsrc come thru at quite fast, no loss, so
that's OK. wire-test fails but then it also fails on my OSX box so I
guess that's OK. How do I check the settings other than dmesg output?
I'm not sure why my csh shells spend so much time in pause, see the
output of top earlier.
It takes me 45 sec to ls /usr/pkgsrc/www.
I'm working on rebuilding a kernel locally, but it's not a fast process.
Any other system stats that would be useful to look at?
Here's the dmesg from this bootup, tlp1 looks fine to me. I"m not sure
what else to check. With 1.6.1 I got continual messages about the SCSI
card, so I disabled SCSI in kernel, but I'm not getting any message
with this 2.0-CURRENT kernel from 6/21/05 (IIRC that's what the build
of the .iso was from). But my first thought was to build my own
locally with a bunch of stuff disabled and see what happens.
adjustkernel needs perl and that's been compiling for a bit.
Thanks,
Brian
