No experience with PostgreSQL, but since you mentioned MySQL - I have =
been able to build MySQL server and client (v4.0.18) on a RaQ2. For =
low-traffic applications that are not very time-critical (DNS, =
whois/rwhois, SMTP, etc.), that would be my platform of choice, without =
a doubt.
In addition to the DB stuff, I have slapped image processing to my =
Cobalt RaQ2 - and it is surprisingly stable and acceptably fast (I use =
it as a picture server). Of course, it can't beat an 800+MHz i386 box or =
anything above that, but still very impressive for a box that consumes =
less than 30 Watts of power, makes almost no noise and only requires =
attention when you need to wipe the dust off it.

Subject: NetBSD/Cobalt and web-published databases
Hi all;
I'd asked once in the past about getting dbases on the web from =
NetBSD;=20
I have just read about a seeming cost-effective tool to convert from=20
FilMaker Pro 4 format (which I was using on an old Mac to web-publish =
a=20
small dbase) to a format that you can use with MySQL or PostgreSQL of=20
others (=20
http://www.dotcomsolutionsinc.net/products/fmpro_migrator/index.html> =
)=20
so I"m going to try it.
Is anyone using PostgresSQL on their Qube/ NetBSD 1.6.1?
It's in pkgsrc as v. 7.4 I think, it's been ages since I updated so I=20
am going to do that shortly.
But something being in pkgsrc doesn't _always_ mean it works OK in all =
ports.
I'm happy to take other suggestions, too; this will get minimal use,=20
and I spend about 60 hrs a week on my real job; this is just for fun. =
I don't care about a fancy setup, just runnable, and readable, and=20
reasonably secure.
Thanks for thoughts;
Brian
