Thanks

I'm planning on using them as Network Attached Storage (archiving) only.

I thought that there was a problem installing NETBSD restore onto the Qube 1 because it didn't have a serial port and because of a conflict the built in ethernet port. I guess I misunderstood.

Anybody know for sure

 I don't think you need a 3rd party nic, at least, I didn't for my RaQ1.

The restore CD I used is here:

ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/cobalt/restore-cd/1.6.1/

Grab the raq1 version since it has DMA disabled (expect it to not boot
otherwise) but read this post about the default nightly cron which
will hang your cobalt if you don't disabled it:

http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-cobalt/2004/06/29/0001.html

I think the disk i/o performance is not going to be what you're
looking for for video editing, unless it's strictly for archive
purposes.
