Samba works fine on my NetBSD Qube2, it takes a while to compile and =
install
but otherwise no problem.

My qube currently shares his internal 80GB HD and two external 120GB usb
Harddisks connected to an adaptec USB2.0 pci card. At the same time he =
does
nat and firewall between internet and my lan, apache is also running, =
all
without problems.=20

To ping the qube you have to add an entry to your dns, if you have no =
acces
to your dns just add an entrie in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts =
on
your windows xp machine (on non xp windows search for the hosts file)

regards,

Andreas

Glad to hear it.

NFS is the native file sharing mechanism. Microsoft includes that in=20
their unix services pack:

<http://www.microsoft.com/windows/sfu/downloads/default.asp>

Or, you can build the samba package (/usr/pkgsrc/net/samba, I believe)=20
and set that up.

there is probably no entry for your host name in either the qubes=20
/etc/hosts file or in your dns server. Or your dns server is set up=20
incorrectly. You might want to refer to:

<http://www.netbsd.org/Documentation/network/>

For some step-by-step instructions.
