Hi Frank,
I don't know anything about netatalk, but I think it's not compiled in
the default kernel (GENERIC)
/usr/src/sys/arch/cobalt/conf
$ grep -i netatalk GENERIC
#options NETATALK # AppleTalk (over Ethernet) protocol
I think you should compile your own kernel ....
