The Linux people created some interesting stuff for the Mac to support Applet
 alk.
  One thing is called NetaTalk.  It would be nice to be able to add NetaTalk to
  the TT and
  Falcon via NetBSD, MiNTOS, and Linux as well as adding PLIP for the Falcon si
 nce it has
  a bidirectional parallel port.

Actually netatalk was written at University of Michigan by a friend of mine,
(Wes Craig) originally for BSD Unix. And MiNT already supports PLIP, last
I checked.
