Have you got a build log and a backtrace?

I doubt that its a libtool problem... although apparently adding in
c++rt0.o with libraries linked against -lintl would dump core on 1.3.x
a.out systems. libtool shouldn't be adding this in any more unless c++
is used, but you never know.
