Perhaps the merge should spawn a port-arm webpage from which the new arch dir 
names are subsections?

Indeed, I have scary memories of the original install docs, which had a 
requisite of a brick wall with a large X on it :)  Grin, I remember 
installing 1.2 or was it 1.3 from a large stack of floppies, at uni I used to 
download them late at night to about 10 different machines, and then walk 
around copying to disk on them all (oh so much fun, I'm glad CD-R's are more 
common, as are zip disks :)
