I can't find it there. ARM Architecture Reference, ARM DDI 0100A, from 1996,
says that on systems with a system control coprocessor, when the
take-exception-on-misalignment bit is set, such accesses will create an=20
alignment exception. I could not find out what is supposed to happen when
that bit is not set.

Can you cite book, chapter and verse, please?
