As previously posted (and ignored :) ):

The action of mounting msdos floppies appears to be pretty random. Often
it returns straight away with 'Inappropriate ioctl for device'. If 
mount_msdos fails, often doing mount -t msdos succeeds (and vice versa).
Is this a known fault with kernel 5828 (1.2G)?
