Thanks Neil.... I'll get in touch with him...

can anyone tell me why I then seem unable to create directories/files
in the RiscBSD partition (i.e. I had planned to copy files by making 
a directory world writable and copying the distributions off the CD
using
UnixFS...) however any directories and files I create simply vanish when 
I leave RiscBSD - I have the ram disc set to 0k - why is this happening?
Am I being completely stupid or is something strange going on?
