In my installation the backspace key fails to work everytime. No
matter if in single or multiuser mode, as root, any other user or
after a su-command, with sh or csh. I also tried to add a stty erase
^H to various copys of .profile without success.

It's a little annoying to enable the backspace key manually
everytime. What can I do? Where must I position the command to fix
the 'problem' automatically.
