Both FPE and ARMFPE options used to be in the GENERIC config file.
However for a long time now the line

option FPE

as been commented out in all config files.
Numerorous changes have been made to properly support the ARM FPE core and due
to its performance there has been no effort to upgrade the original single prec
FPE to conform to the same call proceedure.

Currently the removal of the single precision FPE is under consideration.

If your config file is inherited from an earlier source tree then it is
possible that if has options etc that are no longer current and thus you should
have a look at am uptodate GENERIC config to check for changes.
