I've installed all the non-X stuff twice, and both times have managed to
wipe my entire /usr partition by the simple expedient of executing

cd /usr/bin
ls

which gives a data abort, a stack backtrace, and the partition is wiped
after I reboot. I've simply used all the materials in the beta release as
directed in the instructions. What am I doing wrong?
