OK.  That fits with my experience of what happens when the system either
runs out of VM or starts trying to swap.

The AKA32 is being worked on by Richard Earnshaw, so it might be a while
before we get a working driver.  That's the card with a PowerROM, isn't
it?

Yes.  At the moment, rasops2 doesn't work properly on arm26, so you'll get
left-right reversed characters, but it should work otherwise in such a
mode.
