Well, we're switching resolution there and dmesg should tell you about 
the kernel output.

Hmm, so your machine does exit to OpenFirmware - interesting, mine 
doesn't, it just sits there.

Maybe, if we switch back to 640x480 in 8 bit on halt then you should 
see the firmware output just fine. Maybe it's just one OF_interpret() 
away.
