I think you have a 'Deskstation'... I
don't know if the generic 1.5 kernel
supported it,so might still not boot!
If I remember correctly two 'arc' bootable
firmware images exist in the image,try
both plus serial console,something might
work.

I've never been able to build a cd image that I can boot on the arc
machine that I have using mkisofs, but images made with easycd from
Adaptec seem to want to boot.  I don't know the difference between
them. :-(
