Did that today. With phk-malloc instead of jemalloc there is no problem!
After an hour it finished compiling pcre-7.9.

Maybe you want to try for yourself, to see if the segfault is gone as well.
I have uploaded libc for 5.0.1 with the phk-allocator under:
