  I ended up installing all the sets, and that kinda filed up all of /usr:
/dev/sd0d     262M     251M     -2.4M   100%    /usr
but I have a spare 700M in sd0, so that should be easy to fix

Now I'm all set for continuing my journey, setting up networking and graphics 
etc
