That's really slow. I guess I shouldn't try to build NetBSD 2.0 on my
40MHz 68040 in that case.

Well, just assume that you'll be waiting a few days.

Who much memory?
143 megs (16 on motherboard plus 127 (128 but one is used by PowerPC or
something like that)).

That is more than enough. What kind of disk did you use? A SCSI disk
connect to the CyberStorm hostadapter?

Yes. 160 gig UW SCSI, 7200 rpm. More than fast enough.

Bad gcc! But the real question is how much more efficient is gcc's output
than before?

Well, try it. You could e.g. benchmark the "bzip2" binary in NetBSD 1.6
and NetBSD 2.0.

Not a bad idea...
