Cant tell you the differences, but I replaced the ssh* utilities on my
Amiga with the latest ones from pkgsrc.

To replace the existing installation (or make install will install
openssh to /usr/pkg/) you need to put

UPDATE_INTREE_OPENSSH=YES

to your /etc/mk.conf
