grf driver question: SVGA mode

Hi,

As I looked into other graphics drivers for Amiga, I found out they
use VGA textmodes for the console display.  Am I right?
I tried to get the textmode on Permedia 2 chip with SVGA mode on,
without any luck.  Questions are:

Does anybody has some experience with SVGA mode on Permedia 2 chip?
Can someone tell me the exact steps and register values to setup for
SVGA to have a textmode (or any other mode) visible on screen?

I already have Permedia 2 and VGA docs, but without any examples and
tutorials.
