Some good news, finally ...
Last night I tried all the modified kernels from arch/amiga/misc,
GENERIC
fasterconsole
grfclfix
grfclfix.v2
These don't work, ie. the monitor signal is out of sync.

Works partially. The console is stable and in sync, but the visible
area is only about one third of the screen, the rest is masked out.

This is i=08_t=08_. Works fine.
Now, what is different with the latter two kernels? I couldn't find
anything about them in my list list archive.
