16- and 24-Bit modes in X?

Hello,

I don't get 16 or 24 bit modes to work in X11; the screen
becomes in 16 bit modes _very_ dark and strange colored and 
in a 24 bit mode simply black.

Are hi- and truecolor modes actually implemented?


A1200T, Picasso II+, NetBSD 1.3, X server 1.3
